You can be assured that Calgary Archives maintains your records in a secure and confidential manner.
The building, storage area and perimeter are protected by a sprinkler system, and are alarmed 24 X 7 for smoke, heat, fire, intrusion and motion-detection. As the security of your records is our priority, only authorized employees and escorted visitors are permitted access within the Record Centre.
We invite you to call to arrange for a tour, we’d love to show you around!
As a convenience to our clients, we have fully secure Examination Rooms, that may be booked for a day, week, month or longer. The rooms are equipped with computers, printers, recycle bins and provide you with a quite and generous working space and allows you the privacy to go through your records at your own pace.
Media tapes are stored in Calgary Archives’ media vault. This is a “dry-zone”, self-enclosed room with a 2 hour fire rating. A specially designed racking system, segregated into individual storage units, houses the tapes. Our media vault is equipped with a dedicated, external HVAC system, which maintains the temperature and humidity within the vault at 20 degrees Celsius and 45% relative humidity. The environmental conditions within the vault are also monitored by Calgary Archives’ security system to ensure that conditions do not fluctuate by more than 5%.
Our staff goes through a rigorous screening process before commencing employment with Calgary Archives. Our hiring policy requires employees to produce a record clear of Criminal Convictions from the National Repository for Criminal Records in Canada, as issued by the Calgary Police Service Investigative Support Section. Visible company identification badges are worn at all times in our facility.
Our friendly, delivery drivers wear Calgary Archives uniforms with our logo and photo identification badges. Upon request, we will also deliver in an unmarked company vehicle.
